Walden may have been MekasΓÇÖ first diary film, but the film that incorporated MekasΓÇÖ earliest footage was the one that told the story of his postwar arrival in America, Lost Lost Lost. The film is divided into two parts: the first concerns life in the Lithuanian community of Williamsburg, and the second chronicles MekasΓÇÖ move to Manhattan and his integration into the independent film and art scenes of New York. Shot between 1949 and 1963, this filmed diary chronicles Lithuanian exile Jonas MekasΓÇÖ arrival in New York and the travails he experienced in the immigrant community. His later introduction to the New York art-house scene is also included, with footage from the Living Theatre, Frank OΓÇÖHara, Allen Ginsberg, etc.
